Biren appeals public not celebrate New Year’s day in open

Imphal: Chief minister N. Biren Singh urged the public not to organise picnic parties to celebrate New Year’s day in open public gathering this time in wake of Covid-19.

Biren asked to avoid picnic parties to celebrate the advent of the new year. Instead, he urged to observe the celebration at homeyards.

He said there is still need to be careful because a new strain of the virus has started spreading in UK.

As positivity rate is declining in the state, the government is confident that the disease would be brought under control soon, he said.

Biren appealed the public to strictly adhere to SoP although some relaxations have been announced in connection with the Christmas festival.

Biren made the remarks while releasing diary and wall calendar published by directorate of information and public relations for the year 2021 in a simple function held at the lawn of chief minister’s secretariat on Thursday.

Information and public relations minister Th. Biswajit Singh accompanied Biren during the function.

Biren lauded IPR minister and the officials of the department for bringing out the diary and calendar on time.

Price for Manipur diary (ordinary) and Manipur diary (executive) are Rs 200 and Rs 300 per copy respectively. For bulk purchase by firms, the rate for Manipur diary (ordinary) is Rs180 per copy. Price for wall calendar is Rs.100 per copy while rate for bulk purchase is Rs.90 per copy.

Informing that Union home Mminister is visiting the state on December 27, the chief minister urged the public to take part in the grand reception to be organized in his honour at Hapta Kangjeibung.
