4 reported dead due to COVID-19, 72 recovered

Imphal: Manipur reported 4 deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours pushing the death toll to 348.

The deceased persons are 67 year-old male from Churachandpur, 60 year-old male from Imphal East, 69 year-old male and 75 year-old female from Imphal West districts. They expired at Raj Medicity, Shija Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS, Imphal respectively.

In the past 24 hours, 53 persons were tested positive for the disease out of which 52 of them belong to general population and the remaining 1 belong to Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel. They were tested at JNIMS (11), RIMS (1), Imphal West (10), Maipakpi (3), Raj Medicity (3), Escent Diagnostics (1), Imphal Hospital (1), Jivan Hospital (1), Shija Hospital (6), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (10), Noney (1), Tamenglong (1) and Babina Diagnostics (1).

Among the positive cases from general population, 30 are males and 22 are females. They belong to Imphal West (18), Imphal East (10), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (12), Churachandpur (2), Senapati (1), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (1) and Tamenglong (1) districts.

“All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” said COVID Common Control Room in their 5 pm report on Sunday.

Meanwhile, 72 persons were recovered from the disease during the same time frame. They were discharged from CAPF (15), Home Isolation (43), RIMS (2), LKK (1), Shri (2), Rajmed (3), Thoubal (5) and Kamjong (2).

The cumulative number of positive cases is 28,029 with 24,655 from general population and 3,374 from central security personnel. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 26,404 out of which 23,168 are from general population and 3,236 from central security personnel. The number of active cases is 1,277 with 1,143 and 134 cases from general population and central security personnel respectively. The recovery rate is 94.20%.
