Gang hideouts busted, four arrested

Imphal: Security forces busted hideouts of a gang and arrested four of its members and seized arms and ammunition.

Churachandpur district superintendent of police said in connection with an dated December 12, Churachandpur pistrict police has been conducting covert search operations at various locations with the assistance and support of Bishnupur Police, Kangpokpi Police and Assam Rifles.

In this connection on December 14, based on evidence collected, one person Ngulthang Haokip, 43, son of Tonglam Haokip of L.Boljol village, Henglep, Churachandpur was arrested for providing logistic support and supplying ammunition to the group.

Again on December 26 the police was successful in arresting one of the gang members Haokhojang Suantak alias Marvin, 20, son of Douthang Suantak of Changgoubung, Kangpokpi district, as he was trying to flee to Kangpokpi and seized two small arms from his possession. Then on the next day the police arrested two other gang members Mangminlun Haokip, 28, son of Letgin Haokip of Mollen village, Henglep and Paominson Kipgen,19, son of late Thienlal Kipgen of Boljol village, Churachandpur, from general area of Ukha Loikhai during a raid. During the search operations the district police busted their various hideouts and seized number of weapons used by them, the senior police officer said.

Police seized two country made pistols with four rounds and two magazines, four Single Barrel Fire arms and 33 Single Barrel ammunition.

Investigation of the case is ensuing and efforts are on to arrest the remaining gang members and recover the missing weapon at the earliest, the officer said.
