Manipur electoral roll released, female outnumbered male for first time

Imphal: The integrated final electoral rolls of all 60 (sixty) Assembly Constituencies were published on Friday by the concerned electoral registration officers.

​Joint chief electoral officer Ramananda Nongmeikapam informed reporters thst the final electoral rolls was based on the special summary revision programme conducted during Covid-19 pandemic (November 16 to December 15, 2020). As per the final electoral rolls, Manipur has a total of 1958087 electors including 951409 male, 1006581 female and 97 third gender. For the first time, female electors outnumbered male electors by 55172.

During the campaign, 50553 claims were lodged in Form 6 out of which 47301 were admitted after verification. Additionally 11855 objections were lodged in Form 7 and 11042 were accepted, 11011electors were deleted due to death, change of residential address and repetition. The state has altogether 2894 polling stations, whereas 602 polling stations are for Urban and 2292 are for Rural, Ramananda added.

Out of 1958087 electors, state has made available the EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Card) to 1957692 electors. Meanwhile, Election Commission of India is ready to launch electronic form of EPIC in the upcoming ‘National Voter’s Day’ that falls on January 25.

He said the electors and representatives of political parties may inspect/verify the Final Photo Electoral Rolls at the offices of the electoral registration officers/assistant electoral registration officers and with all the booth level officers. They may also visit chief electoral officer, Manipur’s website www.ceomanipur.nic.in.
