‘Covid-19 test compulsory for hostelers to attend class, hostels’

Imphal: “Students who are willing to attend schools and colleges from private or government hostels/boarding should posses Covid-19 negative certificate before their joining to boarding and institutions”, education minister S. Rajen Singh said.

Rajen made the statement as he handed over sanitizers and face masks to zonal education officers of different districts in a simple function held at the office of SSA, here, on Sunday .

With the view to reopening of schools after a break of nine months due to Covid-19 the minister distributed hand sanitizers and face masks for schools and colleges.

The government had announced for resumption of classes January 27 onwards. He said classes from IX and above will be resumed with strict SOPs.

Rajen said necessary measures for the strict compliance of the SOPs should be taken up by the concerned school and college authorities. Instructions have also been given to the departmental officials to take up possible precautionary measures during the school hours, he added.

“Classes of class IX and XI will be conducted in morning shift while classes of X and XII will be done as usual,” the minister said and appealed to all the guardians, students, school authorities and staffs, civil society organizations to cooperate with the new initiative of the education department.

The minister also distributed hand sanitizers and face masks to the principals of different college during a function held at the office of the directorate of education (U).

An interaction programme was also held as a part of the occasion.
