Manipur to Waste-to-Power plant soon

Imphal: Waste-to-Power Plant located at Lamdeng will be inaugurated soon, MAHUD minister Henry Okram said during an inspection at the Solid Waste Management Plant, Lamdeng, here on Sunday.

The Waste-to-Energy plant will be dedicated to the public soon after due consultation with chief minister N. Biren Singh, Henry said.

The power plant would be producing 600 kW of electricity in the first phase. The government has successfully done the trial of the power plant and the approval from the Government of India is awaited, he added.

The minster said the government will also set up a mini Solid Waste Management plant nearby so that more waste can be treated and use resourcefully.

Henry, during his visit, listened to the grievances and problems faced by the people residing in and around Lamdeng area. He assured that the government will do the needful at the earliest.

MAHUD director Th. Harikumar, OSD Imphal Smart City Plan, other officials of the department and representatives of the local clubs accompanied the minister.
