Imphal: Eight senior women footballers from Manipur have been selected by All India Football Federation for friendly matches to play against Ukraine, Russia and Serbia at Alanya of Turkey.
The eight players from Manipur are Maibam Linthoingambi Devi as goal keeper, Loitongbam Ashalata Devi, Ngangbam Sweety Devi, Sorokhaibam Ranjana Chanu, Wangkhem Linthoingambi Devi and Kritina Devi Thounaojam as defenders, Heigrujjam Daya Devi and Dangmei grace as forwards.
Ashalata is the captain of the Indian team.
The assistant coach L. Chaoba Devi is from Manipur.
India will face Serbia, Russia and Ukraine on February 17, 19 and 23.
The tour to Turkey will be the first international tour for the Indian women team in the post Covid-19 lockdown.
