Imphal: Manipur Police department has appealed to all concerned to share details of extortion notice or threats to help tackle problem of extortion effectively.
Manipur Police PRO W. Basu Singh in a statement released on Monday said it has come to notice of Manipur Police department, that militants operating within the state of Manipur, especially from across the border have been regularly issuing demand notices/threats to members of business community, some sections of the general public and government functionaries/officials.
To help the Manipur Police tackle the problem of extortion effectively, a sincere appeal is hereby made to all concerned to share details of such notices/threats, including mobile phone number of the callers, it added.
The police department provides two contact numbers to share the details. The contact numbers are 9612759705 of superintendent of police, Imphal West district and 9862067893 of superintendent of Police, Imphal East district.
Identity of the informant and the information shared will be kept strictly confidential, Basu said.
