Imphal: Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under aegis of IGAR (South) foiled Narcotics smuggling attempt near Machi Lokan on Monday.
Acting on specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics across the Indo Myanmar border into Heirok and further move to Imphal, a search operation was launched to intercept the courier. At around 12.30 am, after a thorough search of the area approximately 60 grams of Brown Sugar in 5 soap-cases worth Rs 12 lakh was found hidden under a bridge, the Assam Rifles said.
The narcotics items have been handed over to the Machi police station for further legal action, it added.
