War on Drugs: 2 Heroin Brown Sugar plant busted, 3 arrested, 4 at large

Imphal: Manipur Police on Sunday evening busted two Heroin Brown Sugar manufacturing plants at Lilong Nungei area in Thoubal district of Manipur and arrested three persons.

Police commando teams of Thoubal Police and Lilong Police, ‘acting on an information of Heroin Brown Sugar manufacturing units at Lilong Nungei area’, conducted house search operation at the residences of Md. Maneruddin, 49, son of late Md. Najeruddin of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai and Md. Manergul, 53, son of late Md. Najeruddin of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai.

During the operation the teams busted two Heroin Brown Sugar manufacturing units which were running in the houses. The police teams seized 565 gm Heroin Brown Sugar powder (refined), 1104.98 Kg Heroin Brown Sugar, 5 kg Opium, 131 litre morphinated liquid, two pressing boards, Rs 61, 400 (cash), four two-wheeler vehicles, and other items used in manufacturing Heroin Brown Sugar.

The three arrested persons were Md. Yunush Khan, 22, son of Md. Maneruddin, Bogimayum Sher Shaha, 23, son of B. Sheraj Ahamad of Uchiwa Haotabi Leikai and Md. Manergul.

The arrested persons revealed the police of four other persons actively involved in running the Heroin Brown Sugar manufacturing units, who are still at large. They were revealed as Md. Akbar Khan, 51, son of Md. Chaoba of Thoubal Moijing Wangmataba, Md. Maneruddin, 49, son of Lilong Nungei Khunou Mamang Leikai, Md. Anish Khan, 19, son of Md. Maneruddin of Lilong Khunou Mamang Leikai and Md. Mustofa, 19, son of Md. Manergul of Lilong Khunou Mamang Leikai.

This Md. Chaoba person is an ex-head constable who was dismissed from service on October 26 last year for his involvement in drug case.

The Thoubal district police is undertaking hectic efforts to arrest those who are at large. The arrested persons along seized items have been handed over to Lilong Police station for necessary legal action, said an information posted on the Facebook wall of chief minister N. Biren Singh terming it as War on Drugs.

The Sunday raid was conducted under the supervision of superintendent of police, Thoubal, Dr S. Ibomcha Singh.
