Imphal: Manipur government has issued an order prohibiting Thabal Chongba (Manipur traditional community dance) in this Yaoshang (Holi festival) in wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
“No activity involving person-to-person contact such as Thabal Chongba or Jatrawali shall be permitted,” the order issued by the state home department said.
Yaoshang sports may be organised subject to observation of relevant SoPs, it added.
Deputy commissioners and district superintendents of police have been instructed to enforce the order strictly.
The festivities of Yaoshang is likely to increase human interaction and physical contact which is not conducive to the second wave of Covid-19 infection being experienced in some states, the order said.
The order was issued in exercise of in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 20(2)(a) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
