Imphal: Officials of government departments should interact with public regularly, hearing their grievances, so as to make the public feel that government is for the people, Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said on Thursady.
Through this act from the side of the concerned authorities, public can be made to possess a sense of belongingness, Biren said.
The chief minister made the statement at the inaugural function of “One Day Panel Discussion on National Education Policy, 2020” held at City Convention Centre, here. The panel discussion was organised by the department of education.
Education is the backbone of a society and no progress and development could be achieved without education. The New Education Policy (NEP) aims to incorporate the teaching of vocational skills within the school curriculum to augment innovation, adaptability, and productivity would help in solving the problem of unemployment to a larger extend, Biren said.
Appreciating the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his far sighted vision, he said that NEP had been revised taking in view the importance of quality education in making the country a global power. NEP, 2020 is an India centric education policy, he added. He urged all the teachers to render their teaching services wholeheartedly.
Deputy chief minister Y. Joykumar Singh said human resource is the most important resource of a country and it is through proper education that youths can be shaped to develop better human resources. Education provides the ability for rational thinking which is necessary for solving any issue, he added.
Education minister S. Rajen Singh said that the national education policy had been introduced under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a better country with qualified youths. The policy will be fully implemented within 2035. Stating that teaching profession had a very big role in shaping a society, he appealed to all the teachers to take their responsibility with much commitment.
The panel discussion will have two technical sessions consisting of School Education and Higher Education, an official statement said.
MLA Paonam Brojen, deputy chairman, State Planning Board L. Rameshwor, commissioner (higher and technical education) M. Harekrishna, commissioner (Education-S) T. Ranjit, officials of education department and representatives of student bodies, among others, attended the function, it added.
