Imphal: Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR(South) recovered contraband items in Tengnoupal district on Thursday.
On receiving specific input of dumping of illegal goods in bulk quantities at near Pineapple Farm in Tengnoupal district, a team of Assam Rifles from Khudengthabi was launched to search the area. At 5:30 am, while thoroughly checking the area 59 gunny bags filled with branded shoes, apparels, and mosquito repellent spray and 25 boxes filled with exotic plants worth Rs 36.10 lakh were found unattended, the Assam Rifles said.
The recovered items have been handed over to customs department, Moreh, it added.
