Imphal: Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has pressed the state government to immediately implement a law to avoid cheating during examination while as the student body welcomes the order of Manipur Hunan Rights Commission which directs the government to implement an appropriate law at the earliest.
To tackle using unfair means during examination the students’ body has been taking various initiatives since past. Though some trench runner were detained for helping candidates during examination were released without taking any further action. Such trench runners are able to escape instead of getting any punishment due to lack of implementation of an Act to prevent using unfair means during examinations, secretary general of the student body Leishangthem Lamyanba told reporters here on Thursday.
The student body filed a complaint under case number 102 of 2020 before the Manipur Human Rights Commission.
The state government can get the model of Karnataka Education Act 1983 (as amended in 2017) to prevent unfair practices by students, guardians and teachers in examinations and other malpractices like leakage of question papers, tempering of masks and impersonating and others in examination, the student leader said.
If such a law is implemented in Manipur, quality education can be ascertained. It will be better if the law is implemented in the coming Class X and XII examination of BoSEM and COSHEM in the month of May, he added.
