Police bust drug racket, nab 3 gang members

Imphal: Imphal East Police on Sunday nabbed three peddlers from Kairang Chingya and recovered Heroin No. 4 powder that would worth about Rs 1 crore along with a gun, cash and vehicles.

The apprehended persons were identified as Md. Imtiyaz, 41, son of Md. Leihaoruddin of Keirang Chingya, Md Manir, 30, son of Md. Gaffer of Keirang Chingya, and Md. Sahid Khan, 45, son of Md. Nurddin of Keirang Chingya Thangjam Khunou.

It was at about 5: 30 in the morning a team of police including women police under the supervision of Imphal East superintendent of police Jogeshchandra Haobijam a hectic house to house search operation was conducted in and around Kairang Chingya area as a part of War on Drugs.

The police recovered 891.35 gm of heroin number-4, one laptop, one room heater, 719 empty plastic veils, 29 disposable syringe; cash amount of Rs 35, 620, three scooters, one Swift car, one double barrel gun bearing registration number 2246E/1; one empty case of double barrel gun and 26 mobile phone handsets from the possession of the drug peddler.s

The drug peddlers disclosed that they sell drug as mobile service. They disclosed that they use different mobile phones for different customers and they deliver on mobile service in surrounding areas of Imphal East district, Jogeshchandra said.

He appealed to the people to support police in order to root out drugs from Manipur.

It is yet uncertain where the drugs were received from, the senior cop said.
