Rajen urges farmers to adopt multiple cropping

Imphal: Education minister Rajen Singh urged the farmers of the state to adopt multiple system of farming for a self-dependent economy during “One Day Farmers’ Training Programme Cum Distribution of Pre-Kharif/Kharif Crops” at Salam on Wednesday.

Cultivable lands in the state are found without any crop for a long period of time after harvesting a single crop in a year, Rajen said.

Agricultural products of the state can be increased to double and even triple times if modern scientific method of farming is adopted. The concept of Green Field should be made feasible to ease out the problem of insufficiency of food grains and vegetables. Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal is also playing a vital role to increase production of crops in the state, he added.
