Biren greets Thadou community on Hun festival

Imphal: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh conveyed his ‘heartiest’ greetings to the Thadou community on Hun festival, a cultural festival.

“It pleases me to learn that the Thadou Community is celebrating its biggest cultural festival, ‘Hun’, showcasing their rich cultural heritage,” Biren said.

The Thadou tribe is one of the biggest communities of our state. Its customs and traditions is a blend of many positive elements worthy of emulation and learning. The festival must become an effective platform for promoting collective identity of our Thadou brethren and for spreading the message of peace, love and communal harmony amongst the different communities coexisting in Manipur, he added.

Hun is the biggest festival of Thadou. Hun, etymologically signifies ‘time and season’.

The festival was celebrated at Kangpokpi district headquarters on Wednesday.

Thadou cultural extravaganza showcasing Mr and Miss Thadou 2021, Hun band and various prominent artiste live on stage were the main highlight of the programme.
