Manipur confirms 12 fresh Covid-19 cases, active cases rise to 75

Imphal: Twelve persons were tested positive for Covid-19 while there was no recovery case in 24 hours in Manipur as report of state Covid-19 common control room said on Wednesday.

With this new cases the active cases has risen to 75.

Chief minister N. Biren Singh, highlighting the increase of Covid-19 positive cases at an alarming rate in other states, said the state government has taken up certain measures to contain the spread of the pandemic giving utmost priority to saving people lives.

He expressed gratefulness for the support and co-operation shown by the people to the government in taking up such measures. He said his government is committed to bring overall development in the state so that future generation could live a better and peaceful life.

Out of new 12 positive cases seven persons were from general population and five were central security personnel.

The positive cases from general population belonged to Imphal East (1), Imphal West (2), Thoubal (2), Ukhrul (1) and Churachandpur (1).
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.
There was no report of Covid related death in the 24 hours.
The cumulative number of positive cases has moved to 29,447 and the recovery rate to 98.47 percent.
Air passengers who travelled to the state on April 5 by indigo flight (Kolkata to Imphal) 6E-6358 in rows 4 to 10 and rows 12-18, and on April 2 by indigo flight (Kolkata to Imphal) 6E-6358 in rows 1-6 must inform the Common Covid Control Room 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officers immediately, the control room said.
So far 89, 590 individuals including 31, 744 health care workers have been vaccinated.
