Imphal: Sixteen individuals including one central security personnel were confirmed as fresh Covid-19 positive cases in Manipur in 24 hours, says Manipur Covid-19 Common Control Room on Thursday.
Five air passengers were tested positive at Imphal airport in 24 hours (4pm of Wednesday-4pm of Thursday).
The positive cases from general population belonged to Imphal East (3), Imphal West (3), Bishnupur (4), Jiribam (4) and Churachandpur (1).
“All necessary medical pre-cautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” the control room said.
In the last 24 hours, as per report from Covid-19 death audit committee, one male child, 5, (Bishnupur) expired at Shija Hospital. The cumulative number of deaths reached 375, the control room said.
Three Covid patients were recovered and discharged from home isolation (2) and JNIMS (1).
The cumulative number of positive cases have risen to 29,463; the number of active cases to 87: and the recovery rate moved to 98.43 percent.
Air passengers who travelled to the State on April 6 by indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 1-6 and April 7 by indigo flight 6E-6358 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 2-8 and 6E-6181 (Kolkata to Imphal) in rows 4-10 and Air Asia Flight IS 783 in rows 25-31 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officers immediately, the control room said.
Manipur chief secretary Rajesh Kumar recently instructed the deputy commissioner Imphal West and director of health services to facilitate smooth Covid testing at Imphal airport while observing social distancing, and to construct a testing shed in the parking area. Director, Imphal airport had also requested for construction of such a testing shed.
A joint meeting chaired by Rajesh on Monday highlighted that out of 65 fresh positive cases confirmed in the last ten days of March, 24 of them were air passengers from high risk states.
According to the latest report 90, 551 individuals including 31, 813 health care workers have been vaccinated in the state.
Chief minister N. Biren Singh on World Health Day said, “Let us keep the focus on fighting Covid-19 by taking all possible precautions and following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour. Do take all possible steps to boost immunity and stay fit in our collective fight against the pandemic.”
