Manipur drivers, transporters impose 48-hour total shut down

Imphal: Manipur drivers and transporters has imposed 48-hour total shut down in the state in protest against the firing to goods ferrying lorries by armed miscreants on Friday.

All Jiribam Road Transport and Driver’s Union, All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union, and truck drivers who ferry goods from FCI godown Jiribam to Imphal took the decision in a meeting held on Saturday.

The meeting held at the Railway platform Jiribam condemned the Kaiphundai incident.
The driver’s union urged the Manipur government to investigate the incidents properly.

The union cautions the government of intense agitation if it fails to take appropriate steps for the safety of drivers.

All the emergency services are exempted from the purview of 48 hours shut down that will begin at Saturday midnight.
