Agriculture department employees demand to revoke appointment of new director

Imphal: All Manipur Agriculture Department Employee’s Welfare Organisation (AMADEWO) has demanded to revoke the appointment order of new director of the department and to appoint the director from among the staff having suitable agricultural background.

General secretary of the welfare organisation, L Sanatomba said the employees’ organisation condemned appointing an MCS officer as director of the department instead appointing from among the staff under seniority.

He told reporters here that the state government should appoint director of the department from the staff under seniority line of promotion.

In the past year 2018, 2012, 2014 and 2019 the director of the department was appointed from the staff through line of promotion that have agricultural background. However, on the government order issued by deputy secretary (DP), Ph. Bhavananda Singh mentioned that former controller of examination, MPSC, Kh. Lalmani Singh is appointed as in-charge of controller of examination, MPSC and director of state agriculture department in addition, he said.

Sanatomba said the new director might not have technical background of agriculture though he is academically qualified.

The association submitted a memorandum to chief minister on Wednesday highlighting its demand.

It urged to revoke the appointment order immediately cautioning to take up agitation if the government fails to revoke the order within 48 hours from the time of submission of the memorandum.
