‘Nestle-Kit Kat misinterpretes Keibul Lamjao’

Imphal: Principal chief conservator of forests (wildlife) and chief wildlife warden, government of Manipur Dr AK Joshi has written to Suresh Narayanan, CMD head office, Nestle house, Gurgaon, Haryana against misrepresentation and factual error in Nestle- Kit chocolate outer cover.

Joshi pointed out that a serious factual error has been found on a wrapping paper for Nestle-Kit Kat chocolate which mentions the name of “Keibul Lamjao National Park” indicating its location in Meghalaya, ‘which is grossly incorrect’.

Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only floating National Park in the world is situated in Manipur, towards the south-western part of the world famous Loktak Lake in Bishnupur District of Manipur, Joshi said.

The principal chief conservator informed that the gross misrepresentation of facts is protested by the authorities concerned in Manipur.

Moreover, the picture being displayed above the word ‘Keibul Lamjao National Park’ is a picture of Red Panda (Ailurus fulges), a species which is not found in the Keibul Lamjao National Park. “It appears to be an irresponsible act on the part of Nestle company, who apparently have allowed this without verifying the facts,” Joshi said.

“I am utterly dismayed and disappointed at this blunder on part of your marketing team. These kind of basic errors are not expected from a prestigious and reputed company of your standard. Unfortunately, we cannot help but send this letter of complaint hoping for a fast and adequate redrassal,” he wrote.

Joshi stating that the misrepresentation is not acceptable under any circumstances urged Suresh to deal with the issue at the earliest possible and expressed his hope that Suresh would take necessary precautions to prevent such incidents in future.
