Covid-19 second wave on rise, 259 confirmed positive in 24 hours

Imphal: Manipur on Monday witnessed highest ever single day spike of Covid-19 positive cases of 259 while two Covid patients expired in 24 hours.

Of the fresh positive cases 252 were general people and seven were central security personnel.

The positive cases from general population belonged to Imphal East (76), Imphal West (94), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (20), Kakching (7), Ukhrul (4), Chandel (2), Churachandpur (27), Kangpokpi (3), Senapati (6), Jiribam (1) and Tengnoupal (1).

“All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” the control room said.

It said in the last 24 hours, two persons aged 76 years (male, Imphal East) and 52 years (male, Imphal West) expired at JNIMS and RIMS Hospital respectively. The cumulative number of deaths was 395.

Fifty-nine Covid-19 patients were discharged from Home Isolation (47), RIMS (3), RAJMED (2) and SHRI (7) during the period.

The cumulative number of positive cases has risen to 31,001, the number of active cases to 1230, and the recovery rate moved to 94.75 percent.

Air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo Flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 are to inform the Common Covid Control Room 18003453818 or respective district surveillance officers immediately, the control room said.

No air passengers to Imphal was found positive for the contagion when 37 passengers were tested.

As per the latest information 147012 persons have so far been vaccinated against Covid-19.

People above 45 years have been advised to vaccinate.
