Imphal: Manipur on Friday recorded five Covid-19 related deaths and 271 fresh Covid-19 cases pushing the cumulative tally of positive cases to 31,586.
Seventy-four Covid-19 patients were discharged. The number of active cases rose to 1427.
In 24 hours (Thursday 4 pm to Friday 4 pm) 259 persons from general population and 12 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases, state Covid-19 common control room said.
The positive cases from general population belonged to Imphal East (104), Imphal West (105), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (7), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (10), Chandel (5), Noney (2) and Jiribam (1).
“All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place,” the control room said.
It said in the last 24 hours, five persons aged 52 years (male, Imphal West), 37 years (female, Kakching), 76 years (male, Imphal West), 67 years (male, Imphal West) and 41 years (female, Imphal West) expired at Raj Medicity (1), JNIMS (1) and RIMS (3) Hospital respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 405.
The recovery rate stood at 94.23 percent.
So far 173056 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
No air passenger was found positive for Covid-19 when tested 19 passengers in Imphal.
