Imphal: Manipur government has banned supply oxygen for non-medical purposes except for use for manufacture of ampule, vial, oxygen cylinders, pharmaceutical companies and defence forces.
Imphal West district Magistrate on Friday issued an order to put a ban on supply of oxygen for non-medical purposes to meet the rising demand of medical oxygen in view of the raging Covid-19 infections, and also to ensure uninterrupted and adequate supply of medical oxygen.
HVS Oxygen Plant, Patsol, Imphal West has been directed to stop supply of oxygen for non medical purposes and help in augmenting supply of oxygen for medical purposes, and also to furnish to the district Magistrate daily reports on production of oxygen (to be quantified), on supply of oxygen indicating the details of the oxygen processing firms and daily balance of oxygen (to be qualified) without fail.
Free movement of oxygen carrying vehicles to hospitals and clinics shall be allowed by all concerned without any restriction of things, the order said.
“This order shall have immediate effect and remain in force until further orders. Non-compliance of this order shall be viewed seriously, ” Imphal East district Magistrate Naorem Praveen said.
