Liquor disposed, traders picked up

Imphal: Imphal West district police on Saturday picked up at least eight liquor dealers who were found selling liquor at Thangmeiband Lamphel after volunteers of Thangmeiband covid awareness and enforcement committee diposed varieties of liquors that were seized from the vendors.

The measures at Lamphel was jointly taken up by the police and the enforcement committee in wake of Covid-19 crisis.

In a video that went viral on social media, the police officer in the lead said the huge quantity of liquors were seized from liquor vending shops where people were found served with liquor since morning.

He said coming out to drink would enhance spreading the contagion while the liquor itself is heath hazardous. As the greater Imphal area is in containment zone people should stay at home.

As seen in the viral video out the eight liquor vendors picked up by police four were woman.

Liquor vendors will be apprehended and deal as per law, the officer said.
