Vehicle lifter falls in police hands

Imphal: Thoubal Police of Manipur arrested a vehicle lifter and recovered a Honda Activa scooter along with a sum of Rs 70, 000 from Lilong Atoukhong on Monday.

The vehicle was recovered when a team of police under the supervision of superintendent of police Dr S. Ibomcha along with members of ANJUMAN, Lilong raided the house of the vehicle lifter at Lilong Atoukhong. The vehicle lifter was Singamayum Farid Khan, 31, son of Singamayum Abdul Salam.

The house of Farid Khan was searched based on a reliable information that the vehicle lifter was loitering at his residence concealing one stolen vehicle.

During the search, the scooter white in colour bearing no registration numbers and a sum of Rs 70,000 which was said to be contained inside the tool box of the vehicle when it was stolen were recovered and seized by observing formalities, Ibomcha said.

Farid Khan has been arrested. He disclosed the police that he along with his associate Singamayum Imran Khan, 26, son of Singamayum Riaj Khan of Lilong Atoukhong had stolen the said vehicle from a Ghari Mamang Leikai, in front of Lingel office near Mahindra Showroom on April 30 at 2:45 pm.

The accused Imran Khan is absconding. A regular case under has been registered, the senior police officer said.
