Curfew imposed in 7 Manipur districts

Imphal: In wake of steep rise in Covid-19 positive cases in Manipur, state government has imposed 10 days curfew in seven districts of the state.

Manipur on Friday recorded two Covid-19 related death cases and 600 fresh positive cases. Death cases have risen to 449 and the active cases to 3506.

The curfew was imposed in the districts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Chuachandpur and Ukhrul with effect from Saturday.

The curfew exempts all healthcare facilities, including animal healthcare, hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and movement of healthcare workers; pharmacies, including those selling veterinary medicines; persons going for Covid-19 vaccination, Covid testing and medical emergencies, employees and personal staff working in media, power, fire service, PHED, CAFPD, home, health, relief and DM, police departments and district administration (all other offices to remain closed); snd goods vehicles, oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG and oil tankers and vehicles of other essential services.

Opening of petrol pumps and LPG outlets and movement of staff of IOCL will continue. Imphal airport shall remain open and movement of staff and passengers will continue to be permitted. Hotels for lodging will be allowed to remain open with minimum staff. Restaurants to remain closed, a government order issued on Friday said.

Any violation of the goverment order will be liable for punishment, the order said.
