Covid-19 takes 15 lives, infects 579

Imphal: At least 15 Covid-19 patients succumbed while 579 fresh cases were reported in 24 hours in Manipur.

In the last 24 hours, 15 persons aged 65 years (male, Imphal West), 72 years (female, Imphal West), 24 years (male, Imphal West), 79 years (female, Kakching), 66 years (male, Imphal East), 72 years (female, Churachandpur), 60 years (male, Imphal West), 51 years (male, Imphal West), 36 years (male, Imphal East), 43 years (male, Imphal West), 58 years (male, Imphal East), 49 yrs (male, Imphal West), 48 years (male, Imphal East), 39 years (male, Imphal East), and 78 years (female, Imphal East) expired at Shija Hospital (5), DH Churachandpur (1), Raj Medicity (2), JNIMS (6) and RIMS(1) hospital respectively. The cumulative number of deaths is 476, Manipur Covid-19 common control room said on Sunday.

The positive cases belonged to CAPF (8), Imphal East (191), Imphal West (197), Thoubal (42), Bishnupur (34), Kakching (37), Ukhml (6), Churachandpur (40), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (2), Kangpokpi (8), Tengnoupal (5), Kamjong (3) and Noney (3).

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

The total number of discharged persons is 135. They are from CAPF (9), Home Isolation (89), RIMS (9), RD Wing (12), RAJMED (4), Churachandpur (4), BB (1), SHRI (6) and Bishnupur (1), it added.

Air passengers who travelled to the state on May 7 by Indigo flights 6E-2615 in rows 8-20 and 6E-6358 in rows 1-4 are to inform the common Covid control room 1800-345-3818 or respective district surveillance officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing, the control room said.

Four air passengers out of 18 at Imphal airport were confirmed positive for Covid-19. Cumulative positive air passengers positive was 103 as on Sunday.

The cumulative number of positive cases was 35,354. The number of active cases was 4280 and the recovery rate was 86.54 percent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1036 D-type oxygen cylinders and 333 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur, the control room said.
