About 5 kg opium recovered, 4 arrested

Imphal: Manipur Police has arrested four drug peddlers and seized 4.995 kg of opium while the state is reeling on Covid-19 crisis.

A team of Nongpok Sekmai police station apprehended the drug traffickers on Saturday evening.

Of the four a mother and son identified as Nengkhokim Kipgen alias Kimboi ,38, wife of Jangminthang Kipgen and her son Mangpilun Kipgen, 18, of N Mollen village Salam Patong, Kangpokpi district, were arrested from the inter village road of Chandrakhong Village foothill near Thumkhong Lairembi, Thoubal district.

The police seized 4.995 kilogram of opium including weight of the container. One two-wheeler (Honda Activa) without registration number was also seized from their possession.

On follow up action by the police team and as disclosed by Kimboi, the two other individuals identified as Limjapao Kipgen, 30 , son of Seikhokai Kipgen of Bongba Khulen, Kangpokpi District and Seiminlen Khongsai, 32, son of late Thonglam Khongsai of L Molnom Village, Kangpokpi District who were coming on a white Honda Activa without registration number were also apprehended from the same spot in the same evening.

A case has been registered at Nongpok Sekmai police station for further investigation.
