Imphal: One Covid-19 positive drug user, resident of Laipham Khelakhong Mayang Imphal, fled away from Covid Care centre, Imphal West.
The 35 year old male was found missing on Tuesday morning from Covid Care centre, RD Wing, Lamphelpat.
“Today, during morning round 7:45am, he is found missing from his room with all his belonging, we tried to contact with his phone number 9089804460 but is switch off,” medical officer in-charge of the centre Dr Maibam Rocky said in a letter written to social welfare director.
Some of the patients saw him wandering around the corridor at mid-night which caused disturbance to other in-patients, he said.
The missing Covid patient was tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday and admitted at the Covid Care centre in the evening.
Dr Rocky requested the social welfare director to take necessary action and arrange a separate centre for the management of such patients.
Social welfare department, Federation of India NGO for Drug Addict Prevention FINGODAP- Manipur Chapter and private de-addiction centres jointly organised mass Covid-19 testing for street based drugs users at the office premise of the Directorate of Social Welfare on Monday.
