Demand for action against rationing agent, nominees

Imphal: Kasom Khhullen Sub-division Development Association (KKSDDA) urged district commission, Kamjong district to take immediate action upon Fair Price Shop (FPS) rationing agent and FPS nominee in respect of 43 (ST) Phungyar assembly constituency for non-distribution of food grains to National Food Security Act card holders in time.

A joint statement signed by general secretary and Chairman of KKSDDA, Rockson A Shimray and E Peter respectively said food grains for the month of April for the Assembly Constituency has already been lifted on March 26 and 27 from Food and Civil Supplies (FCS) godown Ukhrul with a total quantity of 2098.32 quintals.

It said that the food grains for the months April is yet to be distributed however a total of 2098.32 quintals of food grains has already been lifted from FCS godown. When KKSDDA enquired the matter to the FCS godown, Ukhrul, they were informed that the food grains had been lifted already.

KKSDDA committee when approached and enquired the authority concerned and the FPS agents but to no avail, they had been sidelining for the reason best known only to them, it added.

With the pandemic and the statewide intensified restriction hitting hard on the life of public, it is unfair that the NFSA food grain for the month of April is kept pending till date.
KKSDDA urged the authority concerned and state government to take immediate action to distribute the food grain allocation within the first week of June to relief the suffering if the poor village.
