Fraud star Kanarjit brought to Imphal

Imphal: Thorough investigation will be conducted against Kanarjit Kangujam who was arrested against various cases including forgery for cheating, breach of trust and others by the combined team of Delhi police and a team of Porompat police.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), K. Jayenta said this on Tuesday.

Kanarjit Kangujam aka KK, 30, son of K. Ibotombi Singh of Bashikhong Wangkhei Lourembi, Imphal East was arrested from Ashram Chowk, Maharani Bagh, New Delhi.

Kanarjit was brought to Imphal by a team of Porompat police led by SDPO, N. Suraj. The police team along with KK departed for Imphal from Delhi in Indian Airline flight number 889 at about 9.30 am and reach Bir Tikendrajit International Airport at about 1 pm.

After he reached Imphal he was taken to Porompat police station directly from the airport at about 1.20 pm.

Officer Jayenta said KK is involved in four different cases.

He said the police team recovered and seized many indiscriminating articles and documents including computer laptop, mobile handset from the house where KK was found.

After he was arrested on Sunday, he was produced before the court of chief metropolitan magistrate at Patiala House Court, New Delhi on Monday.

After taking transit remand for 5 days KK was brought back to Imphal on Tuesday.

Kanarjit will be produced before the Court of CJM, Imphal East at the earliest for further necessary legal action, Jayenta said.

The police team will conduct through investigation whether to find out he is involved in other cases including distribution of oxygen cylinder by a minor girl which is widely circulated in various social media platform, he added.

He also said KK misused the registration number of Club 25 committee in another NGO named as International Youth Committee (IYC).

Jayenta said under IYC he collected money from various students including students from foreign nations.
