3 arrested in connection with KRA chief murder case

Imphal: A special investigation team (SIT) of Kangpokpi district police arrested three prime accused in connection with the murder of two Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) cadres including its self-styled army chief.

Cyber and media cell, Kangpokpi district police said the three accused has been identified as one Satminthang Hangshing, 34, son of late Lalpao Hangshing of Lhungtin village; Lamginlal alias Lalcha Chongloi, 38, son of Lunsat Chongloi of Lhungtin village and Lunginhao alias Robert Hangshing, 33, son of Jiten of Phaikon village, Kangpokpi district.

It is said the three accused were apprehended by 36 Assam Rifles at Lilen-B village, Peren district, Nagaland on Wednesday and brought back to Kangpokpi by the SIT.
Lhungtin is a sub-divisional headquarter in Kangpokpi district located around 25 kilometre from its district headquarter.

The arrested persons were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for 10 days for further investigation.

The two deceased KRA cadres–Janggin Baite alias Andy alias Jetlee, 42, son of late Tongpao Baite and Lamginlen Hangshing, 22, son of late Hellal Hangshing of Tingpibung village were shot at the residence of Janggin located at Lhungtin, Kangpokpi district by some unknown armed miscreants on April 30 at about 10.30 pm.

Janggin was the self-styled army chief of KRA and Lamginlen was the bodyguard of Janggin.

The militant group is under suspension of operation with the government.

The SIT comprises of additional superintendent of police (law and order), Thangkhochon Haokip and officer-in-charge, Saikul police station, inspector, Thangpu Kipgen under the supervision of superintendent of police Kangpokpi district, PG Singsit.
