KReF complains cyber-crime police for uploading defamatory post

Imphal: Chairman of Kuki Reformation Forum (KReF), TS Haokip has lodged a complaint at officer-in-charge, Cyber crime police station, Manipur to take appropriate legal police actions for uploading defamatory post on social media against particular religion and community.

The complaint was lodged through Churachandpur police station on Friday. It mentioned that in regard to Religious Blasphemy (Artile number 25-28) and hate speech inciting communal hatred (article number 14, 29, 30 ad 46) on social media (Facebook) by some of the facebook accounts.

In the complaint names of 6 facebook account holders were mentioned including their comments that they upload in the social media. It further mentioned that they post hateful, poronographic, defamatory, offensive and provocative ‘pictures and posts’ against a region (Christians) and a particular community (Kuki) which is a challenge to the Indian constitution.

It appealed the authority concerned to take necessary action against them so that communal harmony could be maintained with peaceful co-existence.

Haokip said any individual should not misuse right to freedom of speech and expression that could violate law of the land. Misunderstandings could be solved in a peaceful way instead of trying to create enmity among the communities.

Officer-in-charge, cyber crime police station, said the police station has acknowledged the issues verbally however the written complain is not yet received, till the filing of this report.
