Transporters and drivers’ Council renders assistance to Rengpang ambush victim cop

Imphal: Transporters and drivers’ Council (TDC) on Friday handed over monetary assistance to Thokchom Sachi, the police personnel who was injured during the Rengpang ambush occurred on Wednesday.

A team of TDC led by its vice-president Kh. Ibotombi handed over the monetary assistance to the nephew of the injured, Surjit Kumar.

Sachi has been undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity hospital, Imphal.

President of TDC, Hijam Ranjit over a voice note told media that various Manipur police personnel were injured during ambushes by militants and armed miscreants along the Imphal-Jiribam national highway.

The police personnel had been looking after the national highway to avoid against highway looters and safe travel for the commuters, he added.

Such unwanted act should be avoided, Ranjit said.

To honour and and show gratitude to the police personnel who are on duties along the Imphal-Jiribam highway for the safety of public TDC handed over the monetary assistance to Sachi, he added.

Ibotombi said the monetary assistance was handed over to the family members of Sachi through his nephew Thokchom Surjit Kumar at Raj Medicity hospital. He wished for quick recovery and to resume his duty for the safety of the public.

He appealed not to repeat such incident in the near future.

Surjit appreciated TDC for giving monetary assistance for the treatment of his uncle.
