Candle maker body to launch drive against paraffin wax traders

Imphal: All Manipur Candle Makers Association has geared up to initiate drive against paraffin wax traders for artificial price hike amid the pandemic woes.

Secretary of the association K. Ashinikanta in a press release said, to make small income with self-employment people are manufacturing candles in the state. However, some of the paraffin wax traders are making artificial price hike on paraffin by taking the advantage of the pandemic, it added.

The artificial price hike on paraffin wax has been giving a great impact to the people who are trying to earn an income through self-employment at home and at local candle factories, it said.

A virtual meeting of All Manipur Candle Makers Association resolved that immediate drive will be started against those paraffin wax traders by taking assistance of law.

The association appealed the paraffin wax traders not to create artificial price hike as it will affect the scenario of local candle industry in Manipur.

It draws the attention of the state government to look into the matter in order to promote the small entrepreneurs of Manipur.
