Imphal: Manipur government has prohibited marketing of edible vegetable oil containing mustard oil manufactured on or after June 8.
Additional food safety commissioner Dr K. Rajo in a notification informed to all food business operators and consumers in the state that any multi-sourced edible vegetable oil containing mustard oil manufactured on or after June 8, 2021 is prohibited to sale in the market for consumption.
Further, the multi-sourced edible vegetable oil shall not be sold in loose form. Is shall be sold in scaled package weighing not more than 15 kg. The container having multi source edible vegetable oil shall be tamper proof. It shall also not be sold under the common or generic name of the oil used in the blend but shall be sold as- Multi Source Edible Vegetable Oil, the notification said.
The sealed package shall be sold or offered for sale only under AGMARK certification mark beating the label declarations as provided in the Regulations- Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Third Amendment Regulations, 2021, besides other labeling requirements under the regulations.
