Imphal: Manipur Police on Friday arrested one individual for ‘spreading false and alarming information about Covid vaccination and wearing of mask in the social media’.
The rumour monger was identified as Khoisnam Shantikimar Singh, 41, son of Kh. Jila Meitei of Lairenjam Awang Leikai, PS Nambol.
He was arrested by Imphal Police.
He was produced before the CJM Imphal West and remanded in police custody for five days till June 22.
In the course of further investigation his associates who shared the video and took part in propagation of false information will be identified and necessary legal action will be taken up, Imphal West superintendent of police K. Meghachandra Singh said.
Police appeal to the general public not to believe in false information and propaganda regarding Covid vaccination and Covid Appropriate Behavior and SoP.
Individuals and groups having vested interest and involved in spreading false and alarming information to spread panic and to create enmity among public will be dealt with strictly as per the provisions of law, the police cautioned.
