Heroin worth Rs 6 crore recovered


Imphal: In consonance with the Government of Manipur initiative on War against Drugs, Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (East), in a major breakthrough, apprehended a drug smuggler and recovered 1.5 kg Heroin worth Rs 6 crore near Indo-Myanmar border in Sangaikot sub-division,Churachandpur, Manipur on Friday.

With an aim to rein in the rampant trans border smuggling, Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles launched an surveillance operation near Indo – Myanmar Border and successfully apprehended a drug smuggler alongwith 1.5 kg of high value psychotropic drug Heroin worth Rs 6 crore, the Assam Rifles said.

The apprehended individual was identified as Lang HauSuan, resident of V Munhoivill, Churachandpur district and was handed over to Churachandpur Police station alongwith the recovered drugs for further investigation.
