Assam Rifles organised drug awareness drives

Imphal: On the occasion of International Day of Drug Abuse, Khoupum and Loktak Battalions under the aegis of IGAR (South) organiseda vehicle based awareness drive in various remote villages of Khoupum Valley and Sendra, Manipur during June 24 – 26.

The awareness drive was organised with an aim to create awareness amongst locals about the harmful effects of drug abuse on body and society. Drugs and crime inter-relation and root cause of spread of various diseases were also adequately briefed to the villagers.

The event was organised with adequate social distancing following all Covid-19 protocols, the Assam Rifles said.

Assam Rifles Public School, Mantripukhri under the aegis of IGAR(S) conducted various online activities and competitions to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at various locations on Saturday.

The aim of these online activities was to educate the young students about ill effects of drugs, guide them to live a healthy life and encourage them in adopting various sports. During the online event, drawing, essay and slogan writing competitions were also organised which witnessed participation of adults and children of various age groups, the Assam Rifles said.

Anti-drug posters, video clips and messages on drug abuse were also circulated to school children via online media.
