New Covid-19 guidelines to be implemented in Manipur from July beginning

Imphal: New guidelines will be discussed by a review meeting to be held on Tuesday along with experts and the decision will be implemented in Manipur from the first week of July, chief minister N. Biren Singh said on Monday.

Biren was speaking during his visit at a mass vaccination programme conducted at Laipham Khhunou Youth Development Association Club under Heingang Assembly Constituency.

He said the review meeting will be attended by health experts, doctors who are discharging duties in field.

He said the state had already witnessed a drastic increased number of Covid-19 cases when the restriction was made relaxed to an extent. The state government will not take risk this time and due to the reason a decision has to be taken, Biren added.

He said the state government has been taking up various initiatives for the safety of the people.

Secretary of the club, Ngasepam Rakeshwore said in the vaccination programme 229 people has given 1st dose and 5 persons for 2nd dose till date and it will be continued.

He said the club members and volunteers have been monitoring in Laipham Khunou and Sangakpham area whether the shopkeepers and street vendors are following SOPs. They also conduct awareness rally in the area.

The club members and volunteers distributed hand sanitizers, face mask and essential items to the people of the area under the jurisdiction of the club, he added.
