Imphal: Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh on Wednesday planted tree saplings at six different locations organised by the different departments under him as part of the weeklong celebration of Van Mahotsav – the Tree Planting festival.
Tree plantation will help in protecting the environment. Tree planting events,are being organised today by different state departments at different sites to encourage involvement of all employees and reaffirm the collective responsibility of all towards safeguarding and nurturing the nature, Biswajit said.
The tree plantation programmes started at Lairenkabi, Phayeng along Imphal Kangchup Road organised by public works department, Manipur.
The next tree plantation programme was held at NH 150 Sabungkhok to Phayol under Sawombung Block organised by rural engineering department (RED)/ MSRRDA Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
The department of textiles, commerce and Industry also held the tree plantation at Trade and Expo Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong.
The minister planted a tree sapling as part of the day’s programme at the office complex of directorate of information and public relations, Keisampat.
He planted tree sapling at Yurembam Power House organised by the oower department.
The tree plantation programme concluded at the State Academy of Training Complex Takyelpat with plantation of sapling.
