House to house Covid-19 testing will begin on July 10

Imphal: Following the announcement made by Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Friday that health officials would visit every household to conduct random Covid-19 testing of at least one member of the family, district administrations of Imphal West and Imphal East districts have notified to begin house to house Covid testing.

In Imphal East the test was scheduled to begin at Achanbigei area including Soram Leikai on July 10.

Imphal East deputy commissioner provided contact number of local volunteer Shoubam Momon, 7005168232 for the special drive.

As per the terms and conditions provided two members of each household shall be mandatorily tested. (One member who moves out of the house and another member preferably a sedentary member who has not moved out of the house.)

In case any member turns out to be positive in the test, all remaining members of the family or group of family sharing the same boundary (in the Kollup) shall be tested.

Testing for houses under active containment may be decided in consultation with the officials.

The locals shall identify the families that have not cooperated in the house to house testing for Covid and the list shall be submitted to the respective Police team and medical team.

CMO, Imphal East shall make necessary arrangements for the same, the order issued by Imphal East district deputy commissioner said.

On the same note Imphal West deputy commissioner Th. Kirankumar in an order said a special drive for house to house Covid testing shall be taken up by sending out mobile teams over and above the contact tracing and testing in the district.

The house to house Covid testing shall begin at Takyel Khongbal area.

Minutes of the meeting to discuss household testing of Covid-19 and miscellaneous issues was held at the state Directorate of Health Services, Lamphelpat under the chairmanship of director of health services.

The meeting decided that the district shall compile a list of all the local clubs to aid in the advocacy of the household testing activities.

The concerned SDO/SDC/local police shall be requested to help in mobilization of the persons to be tested and to promote area-wise testing.

The administrative department may be requested for additional human resource to be engaged and mobility support for the household testing activities.

The services of the ASHAs and AWWs may be utilized in tracing the contacts and mobilizing them for testing.

Assembly constituency-wise fixed area shall be identified for testing at a common location in the locality preferably in the areas where there is steep rise in cases during the last seven days.

This activity will be in a pilot phase-wise manner for 15 days. The continuation will depend on the outcome of the data analysis and the review thereafter.

The proposed boundary of the household testing will be 20 meters radius around the positive case depending upon the topography. In case of multi-store building occupied by different families, two persons from each family preferably one ambulatory and one sedentary member shall be selected for testing.

The district shall approach the respective district administration in case of any legal liabilities associated with such testing activities.

It was also decided that the district shall reorganize the existing human resource to initiate the household testing as a pilot project.
