Manipur has 205 Covid-19 Delta variant positive cases

Imphal: A total of 205 NP (nasopharyngeal) swabs collected from different parts of our state have been confirmed as Delta variant positive till date.

This variant is known to spread faster than the original strain, Manipur Covid-19 Common Control Room said on Sunday.

To avoid further spread, IDSP, Manipur appeals the public “to use face mask even in family settings over and above the standard Covid Appropriate Behaviour issued earlier”.

In the past 24 hours, 911 persons including 14 from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new Covid-19 positive cases.

Imphal West has the highest positive cases of 269 followed by Imphal East with 207 cases.

The remaining fresh cases belonged to Thoubal (84), Bishnupur (140), Kakching (63), Ulchrul (8), Churachandpur (83), Chandel (10), Senapati (6), Tamenglong (6), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (2), Pherzawl (3) and Kangpokpi (14).

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the control room said.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid -9 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 14 Covid-19 deaths. The District wise distributions are Imphal West (2), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (1), Churachandpur (1), Tengnoupal (2) and Kangpokpi (1). The cumulative number of deaths is 1272, it added.

A total of 570 persons were discharged from home isolation (228), RIMS (18), JNIMS (7), CCCs (110) and CHICs (207).

The cumulative number of positive cases is. The number of active cases is 7,235. The recovery rate is 89.05 percent.

In the last 24 hours, a total of 1928 D-type oxygen cylinders and 424 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

As on Saturday a cumulative Covid vaccine of 871470 (1st dose of 777202 and 2nd dose of 94268) was given.

The number of patients as on Saturday admitted/adjusted against available bed strengths in different treatment facilities in the state are RIMS (209/224), JNIMS (240/286), I Land Hospital (30/60), District Covid Facilities (141/332), MSF (22/30), Private Covid Hospitals (219/360) and CCCs (1101/2906). The grand total of admitted patients is 1962 and number of beds available is 2236, the control room said.
