Imphal: Khoupum battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended a drug peddler and seized a weapon and warlike stores during routine area patrolling along the OCR in Bishnupur on Saturday.
The troops during patrolling observed an individual moving suspiciously who on being challenged tried to escape. On being stopped and searched, one 12 Bore Rifle, 19 rounds of ammunition and 248 WIY tablets worth Rs 74,400 were recovered from his possession, the Assam Rifles said on Sunday.
The drug peddler along with recovered items were handed over to Bishnupur Police station for further legal action, it added.
