Covid-19 infected minister seeks people’s support to end Covid pandemic

Imphal: Manipur consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister Thokchom Satyabrata Singh, who is undergoing treatment as Covid-19 patient at Shija Hospital, has sought for people’s support and co-operation in the fight against the contagion.

Satyabrata in a voice note issued from the hospital in Imphal on Sunday said the pandemic could be easily controlled when public support the initiatives taken by the state government.

During the first wave of Covid-19 the virus and infection rate was about to control, however, with the lack of support from public the state has been facing the severe impact in the second wave, the minister said.

If the people cooperate and follow the guidelines of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour prior to vaccination then the pandemic could be defeated easily, he added.

With the severe impact of the pandemic many valuable lives has been lost at an average mortality rate of over 10 persons each day, he said.

In the present crisis people including politicians need to work under a single umbrella regardless of spreading false propaganda and taking political mileage, he added.

He said the 10-day total curfew is enforced for the welfare of the people, to prevent from the spread of the virus and to break the chain.

He appeals the people to support the 10-day curfew by staying home.
