Six Heroin traffickers held

Imphal: Imphal East Police of Manipur on Sunday nabbed six drug traffickers and recovered Heroine powder worth over Rs 55 lakh.

The drug was found packed in 20 shop cases.

Imphal East superintendent of police N. Herojit said acting on a reliable information a combined team of Narcotic cell, Imphal East, district magistrate, personnel of Irilbung Police station and volunteers of Youth Athletic Development Association of Khergao conducted frisking and checking in Soibam Leikai area near Citizen Club on Saturday 5 pm.

In the combined effort two persons identified as Washim Akram, 21, son of Md. Sirajuddin of Mayang Imphal, Imphal West presently residing at Hatta Golapatl and Lemba Yumkhaibam, 26, son of Md. Khomei of New Checkon were apprehended along with 20 soap cases of Heroine powder and one PAN card in the name of Washim Akram from the possession of Washim Akram.

After the disclosure of Washim, another two persons were also arrested at 6:20 pm along with one scooty Vespa yellow in colour bearing registration number MN01A-D1240 and one Realme Mobile phone white in colour with Sim Card from the possession of Ningthotikhongiam Nilachandra Singh, 77, son of N. Pulindro Singh of Checkon Mantop Leirak, Imphal East and Rijwan Khan, 26, son of Ibrahim Khan of LiIong Khunou, Thoubal. They were picked up from Singjamei bazar

Again, as disclosed by Nilachandra another two persons were also arrested at 7 pm along with one Oppo Mobile phone blue in colour with Sim Card and one Aadhar Card bearing number 221242120540 in the name of Tongkhojang Baite from the possession of Tongkhojang Baite, 33, years son of Thongkhojang Baite of Maojang village, Tengnoupal and Hemkhomang Baite, 27, son ofJamhol Baite of Moreh Ward No. 1, Tengnoupal. Both of them were picked up from Kakwa.

The seized Heroine powder weighs about 276 gm in total and estimated to be around Is Rs 55,20,000 in international value, the senior police officer said.

The six arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Porompat Police station for taking up necessary legal action against them.
