‘Fertilizers should be made available at MRP’

Imphal: Fertilizers–Single Super Phosphate (SSP), Di Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) and Muriate of Potash (MOP) could be made available in maximum retail price if the government give similar subsidy rate of Urea to the private dealers while transporting SSP, DAP and MOP in Imphal from Jiribam.

A press release by De-control Item dealer signed by one of the dealer, Thokchom Surjit said the fertilizers including urea, SSP, DAP and MOP are transported from the company to Jiribam at the expenses of the company.

From Jiribam to Imphal the fertilizer except urea are transported by private dealers through goods trucks by bearing freight charge by the private dealers however, the freight charge of urea is controlled by the state government.

While transporting the fertilizers (DAP, SSP and MOP) from Jiribam to Imphal each truck has to pay various road taxes along the highway. Due to the lack of subsidy in the fertilizer, the price of fertilizer cannot be sold in MRP. If the government give subsidy like it gives to urea then DAP, SSP and MOP could be made available in MRP rate, it added.

It said DAP, SSP and MOP that were seized from Thoubal district is not related with department of agriculture.

A memorandum to give similar subsidy of urea for DAP, SSP and MOP to the private dealers has been submitted to the authority concerned, it added.
