Headquarters IGAR (South) organises afforestation drive

Imphal: ​Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) organised an afforestation drive as part of the pan Assam Rifles afforestation drive at Mantripukhri Garrison, Imphal on Sunday.

Major General Alok Naresh, inspector general, planted a sapling at the Environmental Park in Mantripukhri Garrison to mark the launch of the afforestation drive.

​Addressing the troops on the occasion, Major General Alok Naresh stated that the Assam Rifles is organising several awareness programmes on environmental protection as well as tree plantation drives across States in the North East region. The general officer expressed his belief that afforestation can help in maintaining ecological equilibrium.

​The tree plantation drive saw active participation of troops and their families including children.
